Congratulations to Jennifer Richey, the first recipient of the David L. Hadler, Energy Insurance Mutual Scholarship!

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies Merit Society has established a scholarship available to students pursuing a degree in the insurance industry. We will award two $1,000 scholarships for the 2014-2015 school year. To help get the word out, would you be willing to post this on a school billboard, newsletter or webpage to inform students of this opportunity? I have included brief information below and have attached the application. This is a great opportunity to help any insurance minded student to receive some dollars to achieve their goal. If you or any student have questions regarding the scholarship, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

The NAMIC Merit Society Scholarship Program is intended for undergraduate students pursuing a degree related to the insurance industry. To be eligible, the students must be citizens of the United States or Canada and plan to find permanent employment in North America upon graduation. Two students will be chosen for a one-time $1,000.00 check to assist in the funding of their studies. The monies will be forwarded directly to the school at which the student attends. In order to qualify for the scholarship, students must comply with all phases of the application process.

Students must submit their application postmarked no later than March 1, 2014 to NAMIC Merit Society, c/o Tonya Suits, 3601 Vincennes Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268 or emailed to tsuits@namic.org. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered. No incomplete applications will be considered. Applications will be reviewed and award recipient(s) will be notified by mail by May 1, 2014. Announcement of scholarship recipients will be made at the annual NAMIC Convention each year. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are in need of additional funds in order to complete their studies. If you have any questions about the application process, please email Tonya Suits.

It is never too early to establish contacts, look for internships, and explore job opportunities. NAPSLO (the surplus lines trade organization) has offered to post our RMI students’ resumes on their website. Please send your resume (after making certain that it is in proper form with no grammatical or typing errors) to Mr. Derek Pace and he will post it for the industry to see.
