Article III: Memberships

Section 1

To qualify for membership, an applicant must either be enrolled in transportation or logistics & supply chain management related class at an accredited academic institution or have work experience in the transportation and/or logistics industry. Membership in the Missouri State University Chapter will be restricted to applicants that fit into one or more of the following categories and maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale:

  1. Have work experience in the transportation, logistics, or supply chain management industries.
  2. Are seeking a BS degree with a major or minor option of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
  3. Are seeking a MBA degree with an emphasis in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or are in the process of obtaining an emphasis in another area, but sincerely desire to secure a position within the Logistics and Supply Chain Management field.
  4. Are seeking a degree in any field and are currently enrolled in or have already completed MKT430 or MKT630 - Logistics & Supply Chain Management.

In consultation with the Faculty Advisor, the Board of Directors will make final determination of an applicant’s qualification for membership.

Section 2

Application shall be submitted on the form provided and should be accompanied by all applicable Chapter and International initiation fees and dues. The Membership Committee shall review each application. All candidates for membership that meet the qualifications shall be accepted and presented to the membership at the next scheduled meeting of the Chapter.

Section 3

A change in occupation or in major field of study shall not deprive a person of membership.

Section 4

Past National and International Presidents are granted life membership in the fraternity.

Section 5 - Alumni Members

Local Missouri State University chapter members who have graduated with a BS or MBA in the field of Logistics & Supply Chain Management from the University shall be granted life membership on the local level for the purposes of organizational growth, networking and faculty/staff utilization, including educational purposes. These members will have the same rights and privileges granted to current and existing members and may utilize all resources they so desire within the Missouri State University scope of the local Missouri State University Logistics & Supply Chain Management Association. Alumni members do not pay dues, do not hold office, and do not have voting rights.

Section 6

The Chapter members may grant honorary membership. Recommendations are made to the Chapter members for election by a two thirds vote of the members present at that meeting. The Chapter Honorary Member will be carried on the rolls of the International Fraternity as an active member. The Chapter may issue the certificate of Honorary Membership. Honorary Members do not pay dues, do not hold office, and do not have voting rights.

Section 7

Faculty that has been initiated into the International Fraternity can attend Missouri State University chapter meetings and activities. Faculty may also be initiated into the International Fraternity by the Missouri State University chapter. Faculties do not pay dues, do not hold office, and do not have voting rights.

Section 8

A faculty advisor is required at all times. The faculty advisor to the chapter must be a current member of the International Fraternity. The faculty advisor is nominated by recommendation of the Board of Directors (with the advice and consent of the Chairperson of the Department of Marketing in the College of Business Administration) and is elected by two thirds vote of the members present at the spring term general election meeting. The term of office for the faculty advisor is one year. There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms that may be served. The faculty advisor does not pay dues, cannot hold office, and does not have voting rights.

Section 9

Members whose annual dues have not been received by the International Headquarters on or before their anniversary date will be considered delinquent for ninety days. After that period of time, those members shall be removed from the membership rolls. Members so removed will be reinstated only when all dues and the reinstatement fee(s) have been paid.

Section 10

Members whose Chapter dues have not been paid (without prior arrangements) within ten days of the due date will be considered delinquent for 30 days. After that period of time, those members shall be removed from the membership rolls. Members so removed will be reinstated only when all dues and the reinstatement fee(s) have been paid.

Section 11

  1. The Board of Directors, on its own motion, or upon complaint by any member(s) alleging willful violation of the Constitution and By Laws and/or any prejudicial act against the Chapter, International Fraternity, and/or any member(s) of the fraternity by any member(s) of the fraternity, may suspend or revoke such membership upon due notice to the accused member(s) and after a hearing before the Chapter Board of Directors.
  2. The decision to suspend or revoke a membership may be appealed to the full chapter membership, the Regional Board of Directors, and/or the International Board of Directors.
