About Gamma Iota Sigma

Gamma Iota Sigma is a professional fraternity at Missouri State. There are approximately 45 active chapters in this International Professional Risk Management, Insurance, and Actuarial Science Fraternity. Missouri State University’s Alpha Lambda chapter was formed in September 1993 as the 26th chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma.

The chapter strives to: promote, encourage, and sustain student interest in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science as professions. Gamma Iota Sigma encourages high moral and scholarship attainment and facilitates the interaction and cooperation of educational institutions, industry, and professional organizations by fostering research, scholarship, and improved public relations.

The fraternity provides students the opportunity to interact with insurance industry representatives. Industry guest speakers, field trips, an annual Resume book, volunteer services, and social events are activities included in Alpha Lambda’s program.
