Higher education and life as a college student are all about claiming your place in the world that God loves. Your "task" is to use your passions and talents to set the stage for today and your future in our precious world. New ideas, experiences, and testing long-held beliefs will prepare you well. We all know this to be true.

UMHE is a progressive student organization that believes in hope, courage, questions, integrity, conversation, acceptance, serving others, hospitality, and the critical thinking enterprise of higher education. We believe in these values because of our faith and the life that we believe Jesus inspires us to lead.

We are a campus ministry with over 50 years of experience at Missouri State University. We routinely partner with other student organizations and efforts like Habitat for Humanity, Spectrum, LINKED (an interfaith dialogue and service club), EXPLOR (a Pre-Seminary group), and Faith and Life Matters to make a real difference in the world.

All students are welcome regardless of faith tradition or none! Bring your questions and creativity.

We were founded by people from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Presbyterian Church USA and the United Church of Christ.

We invite you to share your college life with us.

Best wishes,
Howard Cavner,
UMHE Campus Minister and Advocate for Students

You are entitled to your own opinions ... but not your own facts.
...
What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
...
There are times in life when a person has to rush off in the pursuit of hopefulness.
...
It is never too late to live happily ever after.
...
Blessed are you, O Lord our God, in Christ you have made us one; grant that we may be united in truth, live together in your love, and reveal you glory in the world. Redeem, renew, restore us, O God.
