"Everyone can be great, because everyone can serve." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Missouri State University chapter of Habitat for Humanity does much more than just build houses on the weekends. We also coordinate letter-writing campaigns, attend leadership retreats, and participate in various University events. We brainstorm, organize, and implement major fundraising efforts, and we raise awareness in our community through advocacy. The driving force behind our chapter is our student volunteers who want to make a positive difference in their community.
Getting involved with Habitat is as easy as it is fulfilling. Our activities are mainly divided based on the four functions of campus chapters: building, fundraising, advocating, and educating. Each of these events is a huge undertaking, facilitated by the hardworking people in and around our organization. If you would like more information about what goes on during any of these events, please browse the links on the left.
There is no points system required for getting involved with our chapter. We do not punish those who may have time conflicts with our events. We simply encourage you to become passionate and actively engaged in the community around you. We do, however, reward active participation in our chapter through the Volunteer of the Month showcase. Members who have gone above and beyond in fulfilling Habitat's mission will be recognized in our chapter and rewarded with a gift of gratitude from the executive board.
Regardless of your desired level of commitment, there are many opportunities for you to get involved. Review this list to see why you should actively participate in chapter functions:
