The Fourth Annual Missouri State Flute Day - April 9, 2005
featuring
guest artist,
Ervin Monroe

The Missouri State Flute Society and the Missouri State Student Activities Council presents the Fourth Annual Missouri State Flute Day on the campus of Missouri State University. This is the region's premier flute event and is certain to inspire you towards great flute playing!
This year's guest artist is Ervin Monroe, principal flutist with the Detroit Symphony.
Mr. Monroe is in his thirty-seventh year as principal flutist with the Detroit Symphony, and has performed with the Mozarteum Orchestra, the Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia, and the Royal and Bolshoi Ballets, as well as in duo-concerts with such renowned artists as the late Jean-Pierre Rampal. In addition, Mr. Monroe is professor of flute at Wayne State University and has served as musical director of several Michigan orchestras. He was elected president of the National Flute Association and founded The Flutist Quarterly, that organization's official magazine. Mr. Monroe is president of Muramatsu America, a company that sells and services professional flutes. He has numerous musical publications to his credit, including arrangements and original compositions. Mr. Monroe can be heard on solo and chamber music albums as well as on recording of the Detroit Symphony, and has been heard on more symphonic radio broadcasts than any other principal flutist in America today. He holds a Bachelor's in Music from the Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied with Robert Willoughby, and a Master's in Music from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Harold Bennet and William Kincaid.
Previous Flute Day guest artists have included:
Mr. Richard Sherman - Professor of Music, Michigan State University
