Dear Dance Bear-A-Thon Participant,
We hope your summer is going well, but don’t forget what’s coming in the fall: The fourth annual Dance Bear-A-Thon! The festivities will take place in Hammons Student Center on Friday, October 8, 2010 starting at 7:00 PM and won’t end until 7:00 AM on the morning of Saturday, October 9, 2010. It’s never too late to register, so visit www.helpmakemiracles.org/event/msudancebearathon to get signed up, and be sure to tell all your friends, too!
You are hopefully already registered for this exciting event, so the next step is fundraising. You are only required to raise $100 to be involved, but the more money we raise, the more children we can help. An added bonus is that when you raise more money, you receive more rewards. There is a page in your Dance Bear-A-Thon registration packet that explains incentive levels. If you’ve already started raising money, that’s fantastic. However, if you need some ideas, I hope the next few will help.
- Utilize the online fundraising tool available once you register on our website
- Write a Facebook note and tag several friends from home, asking them each to donate $5
- Participate in our Letter Writing Campaign
- Have a car wash or start a cleaning business (both of which have been tried successfully)
- Collect cans and turn them in for cash
- Ask friends and family for their spare change
- At your job, donate a day of work and ask your boss to match your earnings for a donation
So what do you do with all the money you are raising? Once classes start in the fall, we will be having occasional “Bank Nights." You’ll be able to turn in money in the Plaster Student Union and we’ll keep track of how much you’ve raised. You aren’t required to turn in money until the night of the event, but it will be easier for us to see how you’re doing if you visit us on Bank Nights. We’ll take the money off your hands and keep track of how far you’ve come.
