Blair-Shannon Hall Council is the voice for our building; they decide how to use funds, bring forward student ideas such as where to place vending machines, and decide when to turn on the heat or air conditioning. Hall Council’s purpose is to be the students’ voice. Who can join? Any Blair-Shannon resident may join Hall Council. How do I find out more about Hall Council? Need a place to study? We have 5 study lounges available for residents of Blair-Shannon. They are located in Blair 256, Blair 356, Blair 756, Shannon 559, and Shannon 859. These doors should be unlocked, but if they aren’t you can check-out keys to these areas at the front desk. Please remember visitation hours apply to these areas. Study tables will also be available in the computer lab and Grand Lounge when renovations are complete.
The Front Desk is located on the first floor, next to the student mailboxes. With your student ID, you can check out games and cooking utensils to be used in the kitchen. This is also the place where you can get your packages that are too big to fit in your mailbox. Cleaning supplies, sports equipment, tools, pool and ping pong equipment, and many other items are available for you to check out with your student ID. You also pick up your print outs from the computer lab at the desk. There is also a desk located at the Shannon doors that is open from 7pm to 1am. This desk is operated at night as a convenience to the residents, to ensure their safety, and allow them to use the Shannon doors after 7pm. The desk staff consists of a full time receptionist that works Monday thru Friday 7am to 4pm. Ronda is there to assist you in any way possible. The night host, Grant, works Sunday thru Thursday from 11pm to 7am. Any time that a full time staff member is not working, student workers are at the desk.
