Together, we can build hope.

Welcome from the Habitat for Humanity Bears! Our campus chapter has four main functions:

  1. Constructing and renovating Habitat houses
  2. Raising funds for Habitat related projects
  3. Educating the Missouri State University campus and the Springfield community about the mission and work of Habitat for Humanity
  4. Advocating about the need for decent, affordable housing

Our chapter is but one facet of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry which seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness worldwide. In freeing families from the unending struggles that accompany inadequate shelter, Habitat houses open the door to increased self-esteem and self-reliance. As the crushing cycle of poverty is broken, families are strengthened, their neighborhoods change for the better, and entire communities improve.

There is a great need for affordable housing in Springfield. Some experts estimate it will take 4,000 houses to eliminate poverty housing in our area. We need your help. Please consider extending a hand to those in need by working with the Missouri State chapter of Habitat. Everyone is welcome to join us for any activity, be it students, faculty, or staff. Learn how you can help by navigating the links to the left of this page. Please do not hesitate to contact a board member should you have any questions. We look forward to working with you to help build hope for families in need.

Sincerely,

Habitat for Humanity Officers
