GOALS AND DIRECTION (SHAPING AND ENHANCING THE GRADUATE STUDENT EXPERIENCE)
In addition to enhancing communication and sponsoring activities, the 2009-2010 Graduate Student Council will have a 3-fold focus:
1. Education, Scholarship and Professional Development
2. Student Life and Advocacy
3. Social and Service Activities
As a council member, you will plan regularly scheduled activities, such as the Fall Pizza Party Social and the Graduate Interdisciplinary Forum held in the spring. In addition, you will formulate, evaluate and establish the need for a few specific objectives and steer your individual committee to fulfill them. Other activities will include the promotion of research workshops and resources.

SOFAC is the governing body in charge of allocating part of the Student Involvement Fee to student organizations. The Graduate Student Council Representative to this organization will attend meetings, report experiences to the Graduate Student Council, and advocate for graduate students where appropriate. The Student Government Association is the official voice of the student body at Missouri State University. The Graduate Student Council Representatives to this organization will attend meetings, report experiences to the Graduate Student Council, and advocate for graduate students where appropriate. The Faculty Senate is the representative body for the faculty at Missouri State University. The Graduate Student Council Representative to this organization will attend meetings, report experiences to the Graduate Student Council, and advocate for graduate students where appropriate. COMMITTEES (OPPORTUNITIES TO INTERACT WITH GRADUATE STUDENTS AND PROMOTE GRADUATE STUDENT COUNCIL)
The Interdisciplinary Forum will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Plaster Student Union. Members of this committee will organize speakers, posters, and rooms for student and faculty. Most work for this committee will begin in the spring. http://graduate.missouristate.edu/IDF.htm
The Social Committee will organize all interdisciplinary social events, such as the Fall Pizza Social. This committee will meet as necessary throughout the academic year.
GSC is devoted to helping graduate students achieve necessary professional development. This committee will organize all professional development opportunities, such as workshops, for graduate students. This committee will meet as necessary throughout the academic year.
The Constitution Committee is responsible for revising the GSC constitution as necessary. The committee will initially meet in the fall semester, and throughout the academic year as necessary.
This committee is responsible for organizing and hosting a graduate open house on the campus of Missouri State University. The committee will begin work in the fall semester.
The T-shirt Committee is responsible for the design and distribution of the GSC annual t-shirt fundraiser. This committee will begin work in the fall semester.
